The concept of creation in the philosophy of Kitaro Nishida

pp. 291-301

Abstract

In this essay, I shall present an intelligible account of one aspect of the traditional metaphysical thought of Japan. At the outset, I would like to make it clear that I am not writing as a specialist on the history of Japanese thought. Rather I am writing this essay as a Japanese philosopher who is concerned about his identity as a Japanese. I have reflected on the problem of Japanese spirituality in my search for the national identity, and this paper is a part of the fruits of that reflection.
