Intentionality
the vehicle of objective reference
pp. 141-172
Abstract
Our deliberations in Chapter V have underlined the need to show how sense can be at once (a) mind-related, and (b) a vehicle of reference. Frege's thesis that reference is mediated by sense is threatened if the "mind-relatedness" of sense is explained ultimately by appeal to a psychologistic theory of meaning.
